- The more you talk to your children about bullying, the more comfortable they will be telling you if they see or experience it.
- Check in with your children daily and ask about their time at school and their activities online, inquiring not only about their classes and activities, but also about their feelings.
- Even if children are not victims of bullying, they can prevent bullying by being inclusive, respectful and kind to their peers.
- Help to build your child's confidence and self esteem.

What signs should you look out for if your child has school bullies?
- Physical signs: look for physical marks, cuts, bruises, torn clothes, missing property, poor eating or sleeping patterns.
- Social changes: children may avoid social gatherings, also talk about being excluded, losing contact with classmates, being chosen last for activities.
- Emotional and behavioral changes: your child may be stressed, anxious most of the time, withdrawn or secretive, ask for extra tiffin most of the time or ask for money.
These signs need to be taken seriously and you frequently notice them.
Make sure to find out the reason behind it. It won't be bullying but there might be some underlying cause for signs and symptoms.
If your child is a victim of bullying, or if your child is a bully, and the situation has surpassed what you as a parent have the resources to fix, help is available. Talking to a mental health professional can give your family the tools and support to work through difficult situations.
