Post fracture physiotherapy focuses on improving joint stiffness and muscle weakness around the injury site. Exercises like ankle-toe movements, static quadriceps, heel slides, and knee extension stretches help reduce stiffness and aid in recovery.
In post fracture physiotherapy is to work on improving the joint stiffness and muscle weakness around the injury site. When a fracture oссurs¸ usually surrounding soft tissue damage will also oссur so physiotherapy is important to reduce post fracture stiffness.
Following exercises can be performed under supervision of Physiotherapist :
Ankle - Toe Movements helps in reducing post fracture stiffness in legs
- Lie on your back¸ bend your ankle up towards your body as far as possible then point your toes away from your body.
- Repeat this 10 times.
- And also does unaffected leg exercise as well.

Static Quadriceps helps in reducing post fracture stiffness in legs
- Lie on your back place a towel roll under the affected knee.
- Tighten the thigh muscles of your affected knee towards the towel roll.
- Hold this position for 10 seconds and then relax.
- Repeat this for 10 times.
- And also does unaffected leg exercise as well.

Heel Slides
- Lying flat on back ¸slide your heel towards your body.
- Sliding the heel сlose towards your buttocks.
- Hold for 30 сounts. Repeat 3 times.
- And also does unaffected leg exercise as well.

Prolonged Knee Extension Stretch
- Place small towel roll under your ankle and push your knee down.
- Relax and let gravity assist the back of your knee to stretch.
- Hold for 30 counts ¸ Repeat 2 times.
- And also does unaffected leg exercise as well.
