Symptoms of Baby Blues include:
- Feeling overwhelmed
- Mood swings
- Crying spells
- Reduced concentration
- Sadness and anxiety
Baby blues do not interfere with functioning or care of baby and are mixed with feeling happy. These are temporary feelings which usually fade on their own within the first few weeks after birth.If these symptoms do not resolve within the first few weeks , a mother may be experiencing postpartum depression or another perinatal mood disorder that may require treatment.
The most common symptoms of Postpartum Depression are:
- Sudden mood swings
- Urge to cry a lot
- Self doubting
- Lack of sleep and appetite
- Getting angry for small things
- Blaming others for no reason
- Feeling of not attached to the baby or the partner
- Feeling of self harm or harm the baby
- Not able to trust anyone
These are few of the symptoms a mother might face but this gradually comes down to normal within weeks. And if still you feel it's bothering you it's time to seek medical attention.
