2 min read
Muscle pain
Muscle sprain occur often due to overuse or excessive force, are common injuries treatable by physiotherapy, including protection, rest, and ice.
  • Muscle Sprain is a stretched or torn ligament. For example : Falling, twisting, or getting hit can all cause a sprain. Ankle and wrist sprains are most commonly seen.
  • Muscle strain is stretching or tearing of a muscle or a tissue connecting muscle to bone (tendon).Strains often occur in the lower back and in the muscle in the back of the thigh, also commonly known as pulled muscle.

Muscle Sprains and Strains have specific causes

Soft-tissue injury involves a sprain, strain or direct blow to a muscle, tendon ligament.

  • Sprains are caused by abnormal or excessive force applied to a joint.
  • Strains occur when a muscle is stretched beyond its limit or has contracted too strongly.
  • Overuse injuries, from repetitive friction, pulling, twisting or compression may also occur.

Sport is a common cause of muscle sprain and strains, but not the only one

Soft-tissue injuries are common in sport.Indeed, muscle strains or overuse injuries account for around 50% of all injuries suffered during sport. However, these injuries can also occur through simple, everyday activities like over-stretching, tripping and falling or playing with the kids.

Cure to relieve these symptoms are:

Conservative management:
1) NSAIDS
2) PRICE (Protection, Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation)
