Heat stroke is a serious condition caused by overheating, leading to symptoms like high body temperature, skin rashes, rapid breathing, and more. Immediate medical attention is crucial.

Heat stroke is a severe condition that occurs when the body overheats, usually as a result of long exposure to high temperatures or physical exertion in hot conditions.

Heat stroke is significant concern in India, 77 heat stroke cases in Maharashtra state since March according to TIMES OF INDIA and 36 in past 10 days.

Here's a typical symptoms of Heat Stroke :

High Body Temperature :

The core body temperature can rise to 104°F (40°C) or higher. This is the hallmark sign of heat stroke.Altered Mental State: Confusion, agitation, slurred speech, delirium, or even coma can occur due to the impact of the heat on the brain.

Skin Rashes :

The skin may feel hot to the touch and appear red, dry, or moist due to sweating.

Rapid Breathing :

Breathing may become rapid and shallow as the body tries to cool down.Rapid Heart Rate: The heart rate may increase as the body attempts to circulate blood to the skin to dissipate heat.

Seizures :

In severe cases, seizures may occur as a result of the extreme heat's impact on the brain.

What to do when you feel such symptoms :

It’s crucial to seek immediate medical attention if someone is suspected of having heat stroke. While waiting for medical help -

  • Move the person to a cooler place
  • Remove excess clothing, and try to cool them down with cool water or ice packs while ensuring air circulation.
  • Heat stroke can be life-threatening if not treated promptly.
