H3N2 is a contagious flu virus influenza virus, spiking in India with drastic weather changes. It is subtype of influenza virus. It is activates by change in seasonal weather i.e when climate changes from winter to summer.

H3N2 is a very contagious disease. It has been reported that a maximum number of patients are from Delhi and are witnessing flu-like symptoms . With the sudden and drastic change in weather conditions, The influenza virus has witnessed a new spike in India. Six people have reportedly died from influenza caused by the H3N2 virus. The deaths were reported in Punjab, Haryana, and Karnataka, a report in India Today said. One death was reported in the Hassan district in Karnataka. The Karnataka victim was suffering from fever, sore throat, and cough, state health department officials said on Friday. 

What are the Signs and symptoms of H3N2 :

Unlike a common cold, the flu typically occurs with a sudden onset of symptoms. Common signs of an influenza infection include :

  • Fever or feeling feverish
  • Cough
  • Sore throat
  • Runny or stuffy nose
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headaches
  • Fatigue
  • Vomiting and diarrhea (more common in children than adults)

How is H3N2 treated?

H3N2 is treated the same way as other strains of the flu, That means it may be treated by one of four anti-viral medications approved by Drug Administration for flu.

How you can prevent yourself from H3N2?

  • Washing your hands regularly
  • Avoiding large crowds, specifically during a flu outbreak
  • Covering your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze
  • Staying home if you develop a fever and for at least 24 hours after it goes away
  • Wear mask
