Back Exercises can strengthen core and back muscles.
First of all lets see what is exactly Scoliosis & rounder upper back
Scoliosis and rounder upper back are the Spinal deformities. Scoliosis is a deformity in which there are one or more lateral curvatures of the Lumbar or thoracic spine (in easy words any abnormal, sideways curvature of the spine) rounded back is a condition that is most common in mid back area.

There are basically two types of Scoliosis - Non-structural & Structural
Causes for Non Structural Scoliosis are :
1) Poor posture
2) Spinal Disc Buldge
3) Inflammation or swelling in the spine area
4) Leg length discrepancy or Hip muscles tightness.
Structural Scoliosis mostly happens due to genetic issues.

Back Exercises for Scoliosis -
Advantages of doing these exercises are:
1) It will help in increasing your core strength
2) It will help to Improve your posture
3) It also Strengthens the lower back muscles
Exercises you can do at home.
1) Pelvic Tilts-

- To strengthen abdominal muscles.
- Lie on your back on the floor with your knees bent.
- Flatten your back against the floor by tightening your abdominal (stomach) muscles and buttocks.
- Hold for up to 10 seconds. Breathing normally.
- Repeat 10 times per set. 2 sets per session, 1 sessions per day.
2) Cat-Camel

- Gentle mobilization of the spine.
- Stretching and strengthening core muscles.
- On hands and knees, maintain tight abdominals with head straight.
- Take a deep breath in and lift your lower rib cage, round your back and relax your neck.(Fig. A) “ Camel position”
- As you breath out, lower your chest towards the floor, looking slightly upward.(Fig. B) “ Cat position”
- Return to beginning position with tight abdominals.
- Repeat 10 times per set, 2 sets per session, 1 session per day.
Exercises for Rounded Upper Back -
The advantages of doing these exercises are:
It will help to stretch and strengthen the muscles of the cervical and thoracic spine (neck and upper back).
Exercises you can do at home.
1) Lying on back & Neck Retraction

- Lie on back with knees bent and feet flat on the floor.
- Pull chin in so that the head is pushed back towards the floor.
- Hold this position for 10 seconds and then release.
- Repeat 10-15 times.
2) Prone Cobra

- Lie face down with legs extended behind and arms at sides, palm up.
- Lift head and chest just off the floor.
- Now turn both palms out and away from body whilst keeping thumbs up.
- Keep chin tucked in and core engaged while performing the exercise.
- Repeat 10-15 times.
