1) Go for Health Check Up before running a marathon:

Before participating in marathon take some precautions and get stress test and ECG done. Do not ignore warning signs your body gives during practice or during event itself.

2) Don’t Forget to Stretch before running a marathon :

Running a marathon requires stretching training in different ways to improve overall physical performance and to stay away from injury.

3) Eat the Right Food :

You want to eat well two days before the race, as it takes about two days before the food is ready to be used as fuel. Your body will burn protein as fuel during the run so include some lean meat however, the day before your race you want to go light on protein. Avoid anything that will upset your stomach and remember, stick with what normally works for you.

4) Stay Hydrated before running a marathon:

The day before your race is the day to hydrate. Drink plenty of fluids, but the morning of the race, hold back. You don’t need to drink a lot before the race, and if you hydrated the day before, you should be fine. Runners often say there is nothing worse than spending time in line at the portable toilets along the course.

5) Shoes :

Find a comfortable pair of shoes. It may require trying on a few pairs, but this is perhaps the most important thing you can do for a successful marathon completion. Use the various foot type-shoe pairings to give you a rough guide, but comfort is the most important element.

6) First 10 Miles of Run :

Start out slow: When you start your marathon, you’ll feel strong and confident, but you must keep telling yourself to hold back. Running your first half slower than the second half (called a negative split) is the key to running a smart and enjoyable marathon. Run your own marathon: Don’t be worried if you see a lot of people passing.

7) Mental Health :

Important things one should remember on the day of the marathon Running a marathon requires mental strength as much as it does physical fitness.
